Acoustic Death Machine, Stook, Kyle Matteson and Steve McPherson joined Tony Thomas for another roundtable discussion. The podcast was cut short because Thomas’ hard drive ran out of space for the lengthy discussion.
Topics covered:
We’re looking for songs written and recorded just for this February project. Spontaneity and low fidelity are not only permitted, but encouraged. Send us your CD’s, your mp3 or cassette tapes. (We love cassettes.) Previously recorded material will be accepted, but newly written and recorded material is what we really want.
Submissions will be judged this year. Some local music media folks have kindly agreed to listen and vote for their favorite 28 songs. The promotion will end at the end of February. We have door prizes! That’s right, sponsors include Radio K, Sacre Bleu wine, Swirlygig, and EMI Rentals. We have t-shirts, Swirlygig gift sets and more. And one lucky winner will win a case of wine.
Submissions begin today and will be accepted until Christmas.

Tony Thomas, Acoustic Death Machine, Kyle Matteson, Steve McPherson and Stook got together this week to talk about music, both that the local and national level. Among the topics are:
Plus Tony interviewed Lizz Winstead by phone, but the recording failed. Lizz is a Minnesota native and co-creator of The Daily Show. She’s in town holding auditions for a new reality TV show called Ready 2 Rock. They’re looking for people over 40 who still want to take one last shot at rock-stardom. She described the show as, “more Project Greenlight and less American Idol.”
READY 2 ROCK is looking first and foremost for music superfans from all rock genres. Some will be encyclopedic in their rock knowledge, some just enamored with chicks and partying. All bandmates must play instruments and some must be songwriters.
Two of them will believe they are undeniably the front man.
Auditions will take place at Java Jack’s, 818 W 46th St. in Minneapolis on October 10 from 5-10. This is an open casting call. Apologies to Lizz Winstead for not getting the interview recorded.
